PAST EVENT - ॐ Free Yoga Festival at Yoga Studio Ely ॐ

Saturday 6th July 2019  9.00am - 6.00pm 

MIND Charity Fundraiser with all our Studio Teachers And Festival Highlight - Odissi Dance Performance 


This Festival was a fantastic way to try something new or to share your love of yoga in an atmosphere of friendship and giving.

Completely new to yoga?

Never tried Sivananda before? 

Wondering what Jivamukti is all about?

Want to meditate? 

Perhaps you've been considering bringing your kids along? Curious about how yoga can benefit mental and physical health for you and your family?


Thank you to all who joined us for a range of FREE Jivamukti and Sivananda classes. Also Meditation, Chanting and Kid's Yoga.

There was delicious vegan food & cake, Henna body art, pop up stalls, special offers and more....  A great day! 

 

ॐ FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHT at 4.45- 5.30pm

Dance performance with Maryam Shakiba (pictured below)

£5 Tickets (where all donated to MIND CPSL) We were really excited to welcome Maryam Shakiba back to the Studio as she gave such a beautiful and inspiring performance the last time she was here!

Maryam is a London based Odissi Indian classical dancer and yoga practitioner who holds love and devotion to art as her path to spiritual growth and self realisation. She has been travelling to India since 2009 to study the technique and cultural context behind these art forms, developing her skill as a mover of grace, sincerity and sweetness.

This was a fitting end to our mini Yoga Festival and was followed by Arati

(Closing Mantras)  5.30 - 6.00pm Raffle draw, tea and vegan treats to close.



 

ॐ CHARITY FUNDRAISER

Yoga Studio Ely Mini Yoga Festival fund raised for the local branch of MIND which covers Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire, in memory of our beloved student Tom Holt, and as a gesture of support to our students and their loved ones who have been affected by mental health issues.


MIND CPSL https://www.cpslmind.org.uk/  offer much needed support, counselling, recovery, drop in sanctuaries, suicide mitigation training, women's empowerment, perinatal services and more.... They promote positive mental health and tackle mental health-related stigma and discrimination within our community. 

All donations for classes, tickets for Odissi Dance Performance, proceeds from raffle and any individual donations on the day will go directly to MIND CPSL. For bookings and donations info see below.



ॐ FAMILY FUN

11.00 – 11.45AM - KIDS YOGA  - Followed by Kids Games and Picnic in the orchard 

Jo had lots of books and yoga activities. 'Asana musical statues'. 'Patanjali says' and also pass the parcel. We had a superhero theme and costumes were optional. 

Jo turned familiar yoga poses into super hero poses and become Spiderman, Superman, and Wonderwoman. 

We found our inner superhero and found out how yoga can help us to tackle everyday challenges!

Authentic Indian Cookery classes & Catering service based in Ely. Asia Bibi will be offering a vegan Indian curry plate with pakora.

We were delighted to have Audrey's cakes at this wonderful event, with a huge range of delicious vegan and gluten free cakes!

Audrey’s Vegan Cakes was founded in early 2016, by Audrey Hewerdine, an Ely resident with a passion for baking.

‘From the start, it was really important to me to show people that vegan cakes could taste as good (if not better) than traditional dairy-based cakes’.

Audrey’s Vegan Cakes specialise in traditional cakes like Bakewell tart, lemon drizzle, coffee and walnut loaf, carrot cake, chocolate gateau, Victoria sponge and a range of delicious cupcakes and brownies, with a wide range of gluten free and soya free cakes.

Pharaohs Glass and Oils are a local independent business who specialise in unique Egyptian mouth-blown pyrex glass Ornaments, Oil Burners and Essential Oils. Every item is hand crafted by experienced artisans.





Autumn Attic




Seamstress Leanne Holroyd has been fascinated with stitches, buttons and textures.  She has created a company called Autumn Attic, which is based in Cambridge, UK. Textiles, sewing and creating clothes comes automatically to her and Autumn is her favourite season.... Attics are usually where treasure and cool things are found.... which gives us the origin of the name. In the store you will find lots of handmade creations and customisation's on the website and Pretty much everything that you see, can be custom ordered to your specification.  She believes very strongly in supporting creativity amongst this human race.


Beautiful Soul Henna


Bianca is a passionate artist & creative soul. She finds Henna a beautiful meditation & way to express the fun and exciting world or art. Beautiful Soul Henna Stall is offering small £10 designs and uses 100% Organic Natural Henna for fresh, dark stains.

£1 a ticket, Raffle draw was announced after our Odissi Dance performance with Maryam Shakiba 4.45 - 6.00pm on Saturday 6th July 2019

All profits from ticket sales will go directly to our charity for the event *MIND CPSL* to raise awareness for mental health in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and south Lincolnshire.
